I give this 5 stars not because it's perfect but because it's well made other than the caveats mentioned in other reviews about the SPI pins. Since I knew about those beforehand and they are that way in all the other boards that I've seen which use this design I can't complain about that. Having to remove a surface-mount component and solder a tiny jumper to enable SPI mode wasn't a huge deal but I'm used to dealing with soldering such things and have a soldering iron with an appropriate tip. I wouldn't recommend trying that with a Radio Shack special but if you've got an at least somewhat fine iron, a steady hand and the know how to use them to remove a surface mount passive and apply just enough solder to bridge a jumper without bridging to the pad next to it, you'll be fine. Bigger pads and more spacing between the different jumpers would be welcome but I'm happy enough with a great stepper controller module for this price and manufacturing quality.
